Year 5 Walk around the village

In their literacy lessons, children in Year 5 have been writing instructions.

 

This walk will take you on a peaceful stroll around the main parts of Shareshill. You will really enjoy this walk and this is where you will go. 

 

First you will start at Havergal Primary School.

 

Facts: *Recently inspectors have come and said we are a Good school.  *Mrs Watson is Head.  *Mr Pace is Deputy Head.  *Built in 1872.

Next, you will go down the playground and turn left at the gate (you are facing the road), turn left and keep going until you reach the corner, turn left again and carry on until you get to a building with three doors, the middle door is the post office.

 

Facts: *There is a red post box. *It was built in 1894.  *They sell sweets.  *They sell magazines and newspapers.

Now, we are going to the church.

First, you go back to Church Road and cross the road. Then head towards Villa Close and carry on until you are at the road youy should be able to see St Mary's Close. Cross the road and carry on until you reach a house with a white gate. Next to it there is a gravel drive, walk up and you are at the church.

 

Facts: Built in the 13th century.  *It is a parish church.  *It's called St Marys and St Lukes.

Miss Pippa is our priest in charge. She is a chaplain to the Queen.

 

Now to get back.

Turn right down a little path through the grave yard and into St Marys Close across the road down the gully.
