My Family is a Metaphor

In their literacy lessons, children in Year 6 have learnrt how to use metaphors in poetry. Here are some examples of their poetry all about their family!!

My Family is a Video Game

My family is a video game:

Dad is the bit tough enemy boss, firm and strong, but can be filled with enough perserverence.

Mom is the graphics, who keeps everything looking beautiful, but can be too organised at times.

Imogen is the charming physics, she keeps everyone going, but tries to be more advanced than she is and goes wrong.

Both Nans are treasure chests, full of spoils and generous, although they can be elusive and hard to open at times.

Grandad is a NPC civilian, who says random and funny things, but can be sometimes be annoying and repetitive.

I, I am the player, and I try my best to enjoy the game, even though I need to scour for the correct path to the next level.

My Family is a Car
Dad is a sat-nav, big and wide and always getting us lost.

The cat is the leather seat, nice and soft always getting comfy.

The guinea-pig are the tyres, loud and wide always going squeak!

The dog is the exhaust, loud and large always pumping along.

Mom is the rims, sparkly and shiny always spinning round.

Lizzie is the key, gold and smooth but never ever works!

I am the engine, clean and large and always running smoothly.

My Family is a Zoo

Dad is a strong lion, the king of the zoo, but not always there when we need him the most.

Mom is the bossy Zoo Keeper, always in caharge, but weak in places.

William is the vicious Tiger, always ready to pounce, but can be very nice at times.

I am the sweet monkey, cheeky and light, but can be mad at times.

My Family is a Toy Box
If you open the lid of the toy box what will you see.

My Dad is a giant cuddly bear, soft, nice and warm but always hard to miss.

My mom is a great big dolls house that's clean and very organised but also very protective.

Mollys the annoying talking doll, that always sits in the same corner and every time she starts to talk, she always seems to repeat it.

Sams the baby piano that screeches every time he plays and every time he starts to play, I really want to strangle him.

Marks the little dice, that never rolls a six, but is very nice.

I am the toy train, that goes around the edge of the toy box and cheers everyone up with my toot.
